Classical Performance at the Odessa Opera House - 2 1/2 hours

  • view the interior of this beautiful theater - decorated in Louis XVI style (1887).  Ceiling frescoes depict Shakesperian scenes
  • performance to be announced (ballet, opera, choral or folk presentation)

 

Odessa Panorama and Lunch - 5 1/2 hours

  • visit to the Archaeological Museum which houses a facination collection of relics from the Black Sea region (replaces visit to Fine Arts Gallery
  • classical performance at the Opera Theater
  • lunch at a popular local restaurant.  Listen to light classical music performed by members of the Odessa Opera House and Philharmonic as you dine.

  • walking tour of Odessa's older section
  • exterior views of Vorontsov palace built in the style of Russian classicism (1826)

Odessa Catacombs - 3 hours

  • visit to catacombs which create an underground labyrinth stretching the expanse of the city
  • tour begins at a Cossack military settlement just outside the city (reached by motorcoach)
  • 500 yard underground walk with a stop at a World War II command post
  • local museum with a recreation of the resistance head-quarters

 

Palaces and Museums of Odessa plus Light Classical Music Concert - 3 hours

  • visit to the Odessa Archeological museum, founded in 1825 which houses Greek, Scythian, Sarmath and Eastern Slavic pieces dating back to 7 B.C. through 3 A.D.
  • visit to the Fine Art Gallery which displays Russian and Ukrainian art from the last half of the 19th Century.  Works by Repin, Aivazovsky and Serov are among those on display.
  • visit to the Museum of Western and Oriental Art in the former summer palace of a Bessarabian merchant.  Works of art range from the Renaissance period through the end of the 20th century.
  • classical music concert at a local palace

 
Odessa with less walking - 3 hours
  • travel by motorcoach to one of the oldest streets of Odessa - Gogol street.
  • views of Count Tolstoy's Palace, State University, Pushkin's House, Museum of Western & Oriental Art and many other famous buildings.
  • stop for photos at Ekaterininskaya Square
  • local music show "Mozaika" - 1 hour


Belgorod - Dnestrovsky - ancient city founded by the Greeks (Tira)
  • 90 min journey through country with historical narration
  • visit medieval style fortress built to protect against invasion of Ottoman Empire
  • ancient temples and burial places of Tira, Kimmeranian, Scythian, Sarmat and Cossacks civilizations.
  • lunch in local restaurant
